Salgado a must-see

Kudos for the article (Oct. 6) about the Sebastiao Salgado photographic exhibit at the downtown Leonardo. As a human relations teacher and educator I was thrilled that The Tribune made this important exhibit worthy of report.

This is a must-see for any teacher or parent who wants to teach kids how very lucky they are to just live in America. These images chronicle the global movement of migrants, refugees and exiles across our world. There are 100 million international migrants, due to wars and natural disasters resulting in the horrors of slums, refugee camps, conflicts and deepening poverty and sickness.

Salgado captures the innocence of children with the haunting images of their eyes that beg us to explain why they are living a nightmare. These photographs awaken the heart and remind all Americans just how bloody fortunate we are.

Your article was an invitation to all readers not to miss this wake-up call.
