Posted: 5:11 PM- Real Salt Lake has loaned former No. 1 draft pick Nik Besagno to the Seattle Sounders of the USL First Division, a level below Major League Soccer.
The Sounders announced the move Tuesday, saying the loan takes effect immediately, and will last until Sept. 8, 2008. RSL officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
Besagno is in his fourth season with RSL, but has played in only eight games since the team made him the surprising -- and oft-derided -- No. 1 pick of the 2005 MLS SuperDraft. He has played in only eight games in his career, with only four starts.
The 19-year-old Besagno is a native of Maple Valley, a suburb of Seattle, whose older brother played for the Sounders in 2006 and 2007
