Still struggling to find its first win this season, RSL, which is 0-5-6, will not have forward Chris Brown - who scored both of RSL's goals in his first start on Sunday against Los Angeles in a 3-2 loss - available for Saturday's home game against D.C. United.
The team says he is suffering from a left hamstring strain.
Brown is expected to be back for the July 4 game against Toronto FC at Rice-Eccles Stadium. He suffered the injury in the 88th minute of Sunday's game.
"Anytime you get hurt, it's frustrating, especially when you know you're going to be out for a week or two," said Brown, who spent much of Tuesday's practice icing his leg.
"I'm going to sit on the sidelines and watch from practice," he added. "It's frustrating from that standpoint, that you can't help the team for a week or two."
Without Brown, RSL doesn't have many viable scoring options.
Out of the eight goal scorers for RSL this season, only Chris Klein will be available this Saturday.
The other players who have scored for RSL are Jeff Cunningham, who had three goals before being traded to Toronto FC; Freddy Adu, who has one goal but is now with the U.S. Under-20 World Cup team; and Brown, who has three goals this season.
"I feel badly for him, I feel badly for the team," RSL coach Jason Kreis said of Brown. "Obviously, when you have a player who scored a couple goals you'd like him to keep playing ... I'm sure he hoped and we hoped that he'd be back this weekend. But injuries happen and we'll deal with it."
