Chris Brown and Rusty Pierce will remain in Salt Lake when Real Salt Lake leaves for Washington on Sunday for Wednesday's game against D.C. United.

Brown pulled a quadriceps Tuesday and has not practiced, or played, since. Pierce was on the field Friday, but he is nursing a sore hamstring.

RSL will, however, bring another new face with it in Melvin Tarley, a forward with the Minnesota Thunder of the USL's A-League. Tarley will be on loan to RSL indefinitely.

Tarley scored six goals in the Thunder's march to the semifinals of the U.S. Open Cup. The team beat RSL 6-4 in an early round of the tournament, in Minnesota.

"I can't say he'll start, but if he looks good in training, he'll get some minutes, for sure,” coach John Ellinger said about Tarley. "That's why we've got him.”
