Sandy » He played more than the 45 minutes he was projected to.
He created a lot of chances with his speed and burst.
Maybe Robbie Findley is officially back.
The Real Salt Lake forward, who missed most of last month because of a sprained ankle, started for the first time in Saturday's 1-0 win over Club America, and he looked like the same player who was leading the team with six goals before injuring himself against Colorado in early June.
"I felt good out there," Findley said. "It was really good to go out and play and really get some work in. I felt better out there than I had in a long time, and I think it's because I put some extra work in."
Findley didn't squeeze off a shot against America, but he was able to put real pressure on America's defense, which is a sign that his explosiveness is coming back. He wasn't hobbling after the game, like he was after Friday's practice, and the ankle wasn't wrapped in ice like it was on Friday.
"I thought we played really well today," Findley said. "I thought we worked really well together on the field, and we got the result we wanted."
Good thing it's a friendly
Yura Movsisyan , on Saturday, became the fifth Real Salt Lake player to be ejected this season because of a red card. Movsisyan, who just announced on Friday that he'd be staying with RSL for the remainder of the season, rather than leaving for Randers, the club in Denmark that he signed with, was red carded for abusive language in what was a significant altercation in front of the Real Salt Lake bench. Since Saturday's match was a friendly, there will be no further action taken against Movsisyan.
"He's already apologized for it," RSL coach Jason Kreis said. "But I thought that was something that could've happened to anyone."
Odds and ends
Andy Williams wasn't with the team on Saturday night. According to RSL officials, he was in Seattle to be with his wife, Marcia , who is battling leukemia. ... Real Salt Lake defender Tony Beltran loved the atmosphere, as well as playing against a high profile team like Club America.
"This is something I may never get to do again in my career," Beltran said.
