First, there's Juab, the team that's lost once in 22 games this season. Then there's South Sevier, a team who came into the tournament with a 7-13 record, and then pulled off two huge upsets to advance.
There's Gunnison, who's been dominant over the course of the year, and then there's Richfield, who's been a thorn in Juab's side of late.
So immediately, the big intrigue is South Sevier, who suspended a number of key players earlier in the season, got them back and then took off. The team faces Gunnison at 1:30 in the second game of the day. The question is can the Rams keep it going? Can they take a season that's turned into a special playoff run and continue it into the championship round?
The other big question mark is Juab. Can the Wasps finish off a season in which they've played well enough to be labeled as a favorite? Can they display the same dominance in the playoffs as they did during the regular season.
The answers will come when the four teams square off. The winners of today's games will advance to the championship on Friday, which will be played at 11 a.m.
To get to this point, each team had to win two games, and in South Sevier's case, they had to win on the road. Being battle-tested isn't a problem. So the team that makes the big plays, the big pitch, and gets the key hit will be the team that advances.
