It's not easy to be the only undefeated team in region. Just ask Viewmont and Olympus of Region 1 and Region 6, respectively.
Every team plays their best against you and everybody wants to take out the top-ranked team.
That happened against the Vikings and the Titans last week. Both teams suffered their first region losses last Tuesday.
Fremont took advantage of the fact that Viewmont was without four of its starters - they were suspended from the game because they skipped a portion of school that day. The Silver Wolves scored all three of their goals in the first 16 minutes.
With the strong play of goalie K.C. John, Fremont was able to pull off the win behind goals from Corey Craynor, Curtis Hart and Tyson Hirschi.
East earned a dramatic win over Olympus on Tuesday. The Leopards had the early lead but Olympus scored with less than a minute left in regulation to tie the game. But, East was able to hand the Titans their first region loss when Jason Tanner scored the golden goal for the Leopards.
Even though the losses don't mean much when it comes to the standings and the playoffs - Viewmont and Olympus both won their respective region - beating the top-ranked team can only give Fremont and East the confidence it needs heading into the state tournament.
"This gave us huge momentum. It's like night and day," East

Things coming together for PC
The Miners have found a way to advance to the Class 3A semifinals without one of their leading goal scorers.
Michael Glenn had eight goals before he sustained a sprained knee. He has missed a majority of the second half of region play, but Park City coach Caro Caro said he will be back for the semifinals against Uintah.
He will be a great complement to Austen Stevens, who is leading the team with 14 goals, and Brian Johnson, who also has eight goals. Those three will form a potent offensive attack when they take on the Utes, a team that has made an improbable playoff run after beating heavily favored Logan in the first round and advancing to the semifinals after beating Hurricane.
The teams will meet on Friday at Timpview at 5 p.m.
"They have the potential of being a wonderful team. They know their positions and guys are taking shots," Caro said about his team. "They can compete against tough teams. If we can talk about it and get ready, this team will do whatever it takes."
