Not only is the 189-pound Robbins big and strong. He's fast, too.
Don't believe us? Name another 189-pounder who has won the state 100-meter dash.
Robbins did that last spring, and was also a football all-stater at linebacker last fall. Add a second state wrestling title to his résumé - if Robbins can beat North Summit's tough Shoat Roath today, and the Eagle becomes a strong candidate for The Tribune's Male Athlete of the Year award.
"There's not much to do in Fillmore," Robbins said Friday after beating South Summit's Skyler Page 17-6 in the semifinals. "Either you do sports, or you sit around."
It seems nobody in Fillmore sits much. Heading into today's championship round, Millard has already clinched its second-straight 2-A team championship, and 12th overall. The Eagles have 247.5 points and nine wrestlers in today's finals, while second-place Juab has 174.5 points (and six finalists).
"It would mean a lot to win [a state title] for the second time, but the important thing is taking it as a team," Robbins said. "That's where it's at."
Along with Robbins, Juab's Tyson Ashworth (119), Millard's Mason Stott (130), Juab's Justin Reynoso (135), South Summit's Cody Wall (140), Millard's Kyle Tuttle (145) and Millard's Wade Eldredge (171) will chase repeat state titles today. Eldredge won last year at Monticello, before marrying Millard coach Blake Turner's daughter and moving to Fillmore.
3-A: Wasatch has wrapped up a state title. The Wasps, who were surprised by Uintah at the Region 10 tournament last week, won where it matters most, sending seven wrestlers into today's finals.
Wasatch has 200 points, while Uintah has 150. It should be a good battle today for second, because North Sanpete has 141.
However, Uintah has five in the finals and the Hawks have just three.
"When it is time to bring it, we bring it," Wasatch's Jake Salazar said.
He will try for his second state title today, along with Uintah's Zack Reynolds (112), Hurricane's Casey Pettus (125) and Wasatch's Shayne Bonner (135). Wasatch's Casey Smith (130) will try to win his first title, after three-straight second-place finishes.
Also, Uintah's Candace Workman, the only girl in the state tournament, won both her consolation matches Friday and has assured herself a top-6 finish. Workman (3-1) can finish third if she wins both matches today.
1-A: Pre-tournament favorite Altamont leads the 1-A tournament at its midpoint, taking 188.5 points in the first two rounds Friday. Duchesne is second with 168, and no other team is close. Altamont last won a state title in 2004, and will have 11 wrestlers in today's finals.
