PARK CITY BASKETBALL
Buford is one of Class 3-A's most prolific scorers, but he's doing more than just scoring points for Park City. Buford, who scored a career-high 38 against Morgan last week, is averaging seven rebounds and five assists per game. He's also excelling in the classroom, with a 3.91 grade point average.

PANGUITCH BASKETBALL
No wonder the defending 1-A state champion Panguitch Bobcats are ranked at the top of the class and are a favorite to win the title again this year.
Much of Panguitch's success this year can be credited to last year's Salt Lake Tribune Most Valuable Player, Halie Sawyer. Against Bryce Valley on Friday, Sawyer scored 27 points and added 12 rebounds and 12 blocks in a 56-24 win. The triple-double helped the Bobcats win their 12th straight and improve to 13-1.
Each week during the school year, The Salt Lake Tribune selects a male and female high school athlete of the week based on performance. An athlete of the month will be chosen from the weekly selections. Those honorees become finalists for Utah Athlete of the Year and a $1,000 scholarship from Ken Garff Automotive Group. To nominate an athlete, call the sports desk at 801-257-8900.
