After their two victories last week, the Golden Tigers are in striking distance of a league title. Credit sophomore striker Anne Shallenberger for their success. Shallenberger scored four of Orem's five goals last week, two each in 2-1 win over Provo and in a 3-1 win over Lehi. A member of the state's U-16 Olympic Development Program team, Shallenberger leads the Tigers with 13 goals. She also skis and plays basketball.

It was the most productive game of the season for Tincher, who is averaging 11.1 yards per carry and has rushed for 498 yards in five contests. Tincher gained more than 200 yards in the first half of Friday's game and scored on a 90-yard run.

Each week during the school year, The Salt Lake Tribune selects a male and female high school athlete of the week based on performance. An Athlete of the Month will be chosen from the weekly selections. Those honorees become finalists for Utah Athlete of the Year and a $1,000 scholarship from Ken Garff Automotive Group. To nominate an athlete, call the sports desk at 801-257-8900.
