After relying on its defense all season, Beaver girls' basketball team relied on its ability to shut down its opponent one more time Saturday. After trailing in the second half, the Beavers rallied to beat Enterprise 37-32 in the Class 2A championship game.

Beaver was down 32-29 with 1:51 to play in the game. The Beavers held the Wolves scoreless the rest of the game to finish on an 8-0 run.

"Our coach said our defense is our signature," said Hannah Snyder who finished with a 10-point, four-rebound effort. "I think that's what pulled us through tonight's game."

Beaver's Bonnie Yardley only had two points, but her two points came on the go-ahead basket, which put her team ahead for good at 33-32 with 19 seconds left. Coach Jon Marshall said it was a play specifically drawn up in the huddle for Yardley.

"It just had to go in," Yardley said. "[Marshall] has faith in every single one of us players and so it makes it feel good when he has that faith in you to do something."

With 6:25 left in the game, Beaver held a 29-22 lead. Enterprise then went on a 10-0 run led by Wolves' Jodi Williams, who sparked the run with four points, three blocks, and a steal.

"It's a game of runs," Marshall said. "We looked like we had it then Enterprise fought back like they always do and we had some kids step up and make some plays."

Not only did they have Yardley hit a big shot, but Snyder made two free throws in a one-and-one situation with 46 seconds left to pull the Beavers within one.

Enterprise was led by Tressa Lyman who finished with 19 points, eight rebounds, and four steals. Jodi Williams added five points and Jaimie Dannelly scored the team's lone three-point basket. Beaver had a balanced offense as six players scored.
