Bountiful » It took less than a quarter for Bountiful to take command in its Region 6 opener against Tooele on Friday.
That is about how long it took for running back Taylor Farr to put three touchdowns on the board as the Braves ran away to a 35-6 win over the Buffaloes.
Farr was able to punch in touchdowns from 21, 15, and seven yards in the opening 10 minutes of the game on his way to 139 yards rushing on only 11 carries.
Farr's patience to find holes was evident, and he gave all the credit to his line. "Today, we all just clicked. I was more patient and trusted my line," said Farr, "The line did really good today. It was a lot of fun seeing the holes open like that. It was great to have fun again."
Farr also would get some help from fellow running back Ben Lemon, who took over the load in the second quarter and scored two touchdowns of his own with runs 12 and five yards.
On defense, the Braves came out stout and aggressive, not allowing Tooele to take advantage of Bountiful's smallish size. The Braves held the Buffaloes to a mere 130 yards of total offense and their secondary was able to hold the Buffaloes to two completions for four total yards.
With the win, Bountiful maintained its perfect start to the season at 4-0 and has asserted itself as the obvious favorite in Region 6.
Head Coach Larry Wall was happy about how things turned out, but after a quarter-century at the helm of the Braves, he isn't ready to accept the region crown quite yet.
"Those are tough games. We didn't get any serious injuries, that's No. 1. We're happy to get it in, get it going, and move on to the next one," said Wall, "I'm not into blowouts or point spread, it's a win. It's the No. 1 win in our region, and that puts us at No. 1. That's one of our goals, and we took the first step."
