The Jaguars forced a critical turnover with under two minutes left in regulation, then went on to win it in overtime on a 10-yard pass from Jace Rogers to Tyson Udy, 20-17.
"It's obviously a tough loss for us," said Hillcrest head coach Kirk Merhish. "Our kids played physical the whole game and it's tough to lose like that."
The Huskies had a number of chances to win the game in regulation.
With the game knotted at 14 just inside of the two-minute mark, Hillcrest drove the length of the field and into the redzone behind the legs of quarterback Kolby Koplin. A costly fumble at the West Jordan 20-yard line put a halt to the Huskies progress though and ultimately sent the game into overtime.
Earlier in the second half, the Huskies had a chance for a 31-yard field goal, but West Jordan was able to break through the line and block the attempt.
In overtime, the Huskies took the ball first, but a 38-yard field goal from Hillcrest's Jeffery Brown proved not to be enough.
Damien Maestes got the bulk of the Jaguars' workload on the night, rushing the ball 29 times for 176 yards and two touchdowns.
The night may have belonged to Maestes, but it was Rogers who delived the dagger in overtime. After completing just sixpasses throughout regulation, the senior hit the one pass that mattered most and the result was another W for West Jordan.
The win keeps the Jaguars' undefeated season alive and drops Hillcrest to 2-3 on the year.
