Karl Tinggaard celebrated his 103rd birthday Thursday by doing what he does every week at the Heritage Center in Murray — dancing.

Tinggaard, who turns 103 next week, is a regular at the weekly social dance program. "He has a great attitude, along with the rhythm for the dance floor," says Maureen Gallagher, program coordinator at the Heritage Center, noting that Tinggaard often is among the first to arrive and the last to leave the Thursday night sessions that cut a rug between 7 and 9:30 p.m.

Tinggaard celebrated his 100th birthday in similar fashion at the Heritage Center.

"This keeps me going," Tinggaard told The Salt Lake Tribune at the time. "Look at all the exercise I get in three hours. I dance with all these beautiful women."

A retired engineer, Tinggaard was born Feb. 27, 1914, in Denmark. He and his wife, Esther, moved to the United States in the 1950s with their only child, Sonja.
