Utah's Hogle Zoo unveiled a new play area for children on Thursday. Called "Creekside," the playground adjacent to the Lighthouse Point splash zone has elements of a treehouse, slides, spider-web netting, swinging vines and rickety bridges. It also has a boardwalk that crosses Emigration Creek, leading visitors to a shady pathway where they can "look for native wildlife along the embankment," said zoo spokeswoman Erica Hansen after a ribbon cutting ceremony involving Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski and Salt Lake County associate chief administrative officer Karen Hale. Creekside also features the Discovery Amphitheater and the Wyatt Fricks Discovery Center, named for a boy who loved the zoo before dying at a young age.
