President Donald Trump visited Utah Monday afternoon for a quick announcement that resulted in the dramatic reduction of both Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments.

The Beehive State now has five smaller monuments in the prior two’s place. Trump reduced Bears Ears into two monuments totaling 202,000 acres and Grand Staircase-Escalante into three monuments totaling a little over 1 million acres.

The Salt Lake Tribune had reporters and photographers across Salt Lake City to document the whirlwind visit. You can see photos from Trump’s different stops — and of the resulting protests — below.
