Youth trap state champs crowned

The Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) Utah Trap State Championship was May 31 at Spanish Fork Gun Club. Youth shooters from across the state competed in four divisions: varsity, junior varsity, intermediate advanced and intermediate entry.

The teams listed here qualified for the SCTP National Championships being held July 31 through Aug. 5 in Sparta, Ill.:

Varsity Division (grades 9-12) - 1st, Clay Dusters, 989 out of 1,000 targets (Craig Stitt, Eden; Colton Anderson, Brigham City; Alex Tuckett, West Point; Nolan Stokes, Roy; Coltin Dickamore, Brigham City). 2nd, Ogden Gun Club, 963 (Brayden Young, Roy; Camren McFarland, West Haven; James Coy, Riverton; Codee McFarland, West Haven; Larry Sweet, Hooper). 3rd, CVSTV, 942 (Levi Bassett, Hyrum; Bretton Cranney, Paradise; Garrett Cranney, Paradise; Trapper Crockett, Hyrum; Rachael Hunsaker, Honeyville).

Junior Varsity Division (grades 9 to 12) - 1st, CVSTV 2, 922 (Ty Anderson, Paradise; Marshall Bassett, Hyrum; Kaden Haslam, Wellsville; Heidi Reeder, Wellsville; Jacob Thurston, Logan). 2nd, Spanish Fork, 845 (Steven Syndergaard, Spanish Fork, Stephanie Syndergaard, Spanish Fork; Chalese Andrew, Spanish Fork; Jacob Sabey, Spanish Fork; Kaiden Peterson, Salem). 3rd, CVSTV 3, 814 (Breanne Cook, Brigham City; Jesse Dutoit, Logan; Makayden Hammond, Hyrum; Chase Hatch, Paradise; Cody Hatch, Nibley).

Intermediate Advanced Division (grades 6 to 8) - 1st, Ogden Gun Club, 910 (Trevor Newman, Ogden; Colby Anderson, Brigham City; Austin Roberts, Ogden; Nicholas Hallstrom, Sandy; Myketti Richardson, Brigham City). 2nd, Spanish Fork, 749 (Preston Nelson, Spanish Fork; Jarett Tanner, Provo; Kolton Christensen, Spanish Fork; Kyle Pritchett, Spanish Fork; Wyatt O'Brien, Spanish Fork).

Intermediate Entry Division (grades 6 to 8) - 1st, CVSTV, 845 (Riley Blanchard, Millville; Juliana Cook, Brigham City; Brandon Mair, Paradise; Derle Nielsen, Hyrum; Shane Nielsen, Hyrum).
