Utah Division of Wildlife Resources fisheries officials are giving anglers the opportunity to express their opinions about possible regulation changes for 2009.

Ideas on fishing regulations can be shared with the state wildlife agency three ways:

* E-mail to DWRComment @utah.gov.

* Mail to Sport Fisheries Coordinator, Division of Wildlife Resources, Box 146301, Salt Lake City, UT 84114-6301.

* Attend the upcoming Regional Advisory Council meetings: Southern Region, Tuesday, Cross Hollows Intermediate School, 2215 W. Royal Hunte Drive., Cedar City, 7 p.m.; Southeastern Region, Wednesday, John Wesley Powell Museum, 885 E. Main St., Green River, 6:30 p.m.; Northeastern Region, May 29, Western Park, Room. 2, 302 E. 200 South Vernal, 6:30 p.m.; Central Region, June 3, Springville Junior High School, 165 S. 700 East, Springville, 6:30 p.m.; Northern Region, June 4, Brigham City Community Center, 24 N. 300 West, Brigham City, 6 p.m.

The deadline for public suggestions is June 4.

The public will also get a chance to weigh in on proposals from the DWR at the meetings.

Among proposed changes for 2009:

* Increasing the bass limit to six at Hyrum Reservoir and allowing only one in the limit to be longer than 12 inches.

* Several options to allow more harvest of trout at Panguitch Lake are being discussed. One is to allow anglers to keep rainbow trout of any size, but have a protected slot limit of 15 to 22 inches on tiger trout and cutthroat. Another option is to adjust the current slot limit on trout.

* Increase the trout limit to four fish at Joes Valley Reservoir with only one in the limit being a splake or tiger trout longer than 18 inches. The current regulation requires anglers to release all trout between 15 and 22 inches.

A list of the DWR's proposed changes can be found at www.wildlife.utah.gov/public meetings/next.php.

The DWR will present final recommendations for changes to the 2009 Fishing Guide in September.
