Ski of the week: McConkey's

THE RIDE: This high-speed six-pack takes riders to some of Park City Mountain Resort's better powder terrain, with three intermediate runs available for people who decide the steep stuff is not to their liking. On snowy days, there is plenty of powder in McConkey's Bowl and hidden stashes in the trees of the Black Forest.

RUNS TO TRY

* Sunrise: A class double-blue square run with just enough pitch to give intermediates thrills without compelling them to ski out of control.

* Buckeye: Another intermediate run, it splits from Sunrise one-third of the way down, providing a parallel track down the mountain for the sake of variety. It reunites with Sunrise near the bottom, forming the easy Woodside run.

* McConkey's Bowl: Its wide open spaces enable skiers and boarders to drop in wherever the snow looks good and take a ride.

* Black Forest: Just beyond McConkey's Bowl, this extensive patch of forest offers numerous glading routes, some of which are tighter than others.

* Tycoon: You can reach the bowl or the trees from this intermediate run, but if they scare you away, it's a pleasant ride down, with some extra steepness at the end.
