Posted: 1:32 PM- BLUFFDALE -- A golden eagle that was hit by a semitrailer last May will take wing again on Saturday.

Great Basin Wildlife Rehabilitation will release the rehabilitated bird at a ceremony honoring fallen Utah service members at the Utah Veteran's Memorial Park Cemetery.

The eagle, named Iris, had head trauma, severe dehydration and was close to death after being hit by the truck in Southern Utah. The state Division of Wildlife Resources brought the eagle to Patti Richards of Great Basin Wildlife Rehabilitation.

Richards contacted the Utah National Guard about releasing Iris at the ceremony since many military members have also suffered traumatic brain injuries in combat.
