* Name of lift: Arrowhead

* Vertical drop: 1,282 feet

* Number of runs: 14

* Difficulty rating: Intermediate to advanced

* Why try it: Steepest part of mountain; great view

The ride: The vistas are superb from the ridgeline unloading station of Arrowhead, a midmountain lift reached from Ray's Lift. Look one way and you see the southern Heber Valley. The opposite view takes in Utah County and (on a clear day) the west desert. Spectacular Mount Timpanogos is in between, overlooking the enticing steeps of Bishop's Bowl along with two wide open groomers. Numerous runs off Amy's Ridge are there for bump-lovers. Check out the 10th Mountain Division photographs in Bearclaw's Cabin on the ridge.

Runs to try:

* Bearclaw and Wildflower: Either one of these broad intermediate runs offers a comfortable way downhill for all but the most novice of skiers and boarders. They merge partway down.

* Amy's Ridge: Blue-square access to tougher bump runs and shots through the trees, it has a cat track that lets the less adventurous avoid terrain they can't handle.

* Badlands: It is longer than several other black-diamond runs farther up Amy's Ridge, ending up close to the lift line.

* Bishop's Bowl: Steep with varying fall lines. Entered from the top, it's long. The groomed section starts there. Access the ungroomed shoulder through three gates along Amy's Ridge.
