Posted: 8:55 AM- OGDEN - Wildlife officials say they're stretched thin dealing with an excess of animal problems this winter.
They've moved more than 80 moose out northern Utah towns since the first of the year and are fielding about 200 complaints a week. They say the problems arise from heavy snow this winter, which is driving animals down from the mountains in search of food.
In one Ogden yard, a deer carcass remained unmoved for two weeks as workers sorted through a long list of incidents.
The Division of Wildlife Resources has one full-time and three part-time workers to remove carcasses. They're urging residents to be patient and remember that problems have to be prioritized - live animals come first.
