Yellowstone National Park is seeking applicants for its Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program, an eight-week residential work program for teens ages 15-18 designed to develop an appreciation for the nation's natural surroundings and heritage.

The program, starting June 14, pairs environmental education with outdoor recreation, including hiking, fishing, backpacking, ranger-led programs and trips throughout the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Conservation projects include rehabilitation of trails and backcountry areas, campground restoration and a wide variety of resource management, maintenance and research projects.

Participants are required to live on location; room and board will be provided at a minimal cost. Wages will be set at the federal minimum wage.

For more information or an application, or both, call 307-344-2148; write to YCC Program, P.O. Box 168, Yellowstone National Park, WY 82190; or visit www.nps.gov/yell/parkmgmt/yccjobs.htm.

Grand Teton National Park also is recruiting applicants for a similar Youth Conservation Program, a 10-week session starting June 16. Since lodging is not included, participants must find housing in Jackson Hole or the surrounding area.

For more information or an application, call Brian Bergsma at 307-739-3364, or write to YCP Program, GTNP, Drawer 170, Moose, WY 83012. Applications are also available online at www.nps.gov/grte/misc/ycp.htm.
