Great gulls
Local birder and photographer Tim Avery, in association with Great Salt Lake Audubon, will present a class on identifying members of the gull family. The class is Wednesday at the Sugar House Garden Center from 7 to 9 p.m. The cost is $5. Call 801-272-8060 to reserve a spot.
Tools, techniques
The Layton Wild Bird Center is holding a free digital camera nature photography class Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. Local photographer Brian Currie will lead the workshop, covering the range of cameras available and talking about composition and editing techniques.
