Bugs, trout and the Green River
Mark Vinson, director of the Utah State University/Bureau of Land Management BugLab in Logan, will talk about the entomology of the Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam tonight at 7 at the Salt Lake County Fish and Game Meeting House, 1177 W. Bullion (5700 South), Murray.
Vinson will also speak about recent efforts to relocate salmonflies on the Logan River. His speech is part of the Stonefly Society Chapter of Trout Unlimited's monthly meeting.
Cleveland-Lloyd visitor center honored
The Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry Visitor Center Team has been awarded the 2007 Department of Interior Environmental Achievement Award for sustainable design features in its renovation of the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry Visitor Center. The team expanded the original 950-square-foot building by 1,500 square feet to add exhibit space, a small office and a mechanical room. Off the electrical grid due to its remote location, the center requires electricity 24 hours a day to power the building's systems, so the team installed a photovoltaic system.
Wild and Scenic Rivers
Mark Danenhauer of the Utah Rivers Council will give a presentation on Wild and Scenic Rivers to the Utah Whitewater Club at the Salt Lake REI store, 3285 E. 3300 South, East Millcreek, tonight at 7. The talk is open to the public.
