The American Hiking Society is accepting applications for trail grants to support volunteer projects across the country.
The 2008 National Trails Funds grants will range from $500 to $5,000 per project and will be awarded to dedicated local organizations to build or repair new or existing trails, protect trail corridors and support trail outreach and volunteer programs.
The American Hiking Society created the National Trails Fund in 1998 and has since awarded almost $340,000 to 89 trail projects across the country.
Applications must be postmarked by Nov. 1. For more information on the National Trails Fund and to download the 2008 National Trails Fund guidelines and application, visit www.AmericanHiking.org.
