Entrance fees for the 2007 season are $4 per person for visitors 16 and older. The campground at the monument is scheduled to open no later than June 15. Ranger-guided hikes and evening programs also will start June 15.
Native plant walk at the Bear River Refuge
Join naturalist and educator Kayo Robertson for a family-friendly walk at the Bear River Migratory Refuge on June 2 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Robertson will talk about how the early people of Utah used native plants for food, medicine and cordage. The cost is $1 per person or $5 for a family. The wildlife education center is one block west off Interstate 15, exit 363. Call 435-723-5887 to register.
Learn to Row Day
Great Salt Lake Rowing will hold a National Learn to Row Day event on June 9 at the Great Salt Lake Marina State Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants can get an on-the-water experience with veteran rowers and information about rowing opportunities in Utah. at Canyon Rim Park
The second annual Venture Outdoors Festival is June 16 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Canyon Rim Park, 2900 E. 3100 South, East Millcreek. The free family-friendly event includes a navigation treasure hunt, crafts, a kid's race and a variety of clinics including healthy cooking, archery, kiteboarding, fly-fishing and a skateboard competition. Trail volunteers needed
The Mountain Trails Foundation, REI and Starbucks are hosting a volunteer work day on the Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail on June 2. Volunteers should meet at 9 a.m. at White Pine Touring in Park City. Volunteers will ride bikes to Wanship on the trail for fencing and weed control work.
