The festival is free, with the exception of a minimal cost for some of the children's activities. The event officially opens Aug. 18 at noon in Huntsville Town Park and at Chris's Cafe & Jackson Fork Inn. Shades of Grey will play at 7 p.m. at Wolf Creek Resort, followed by an evening balloon launch.
Events run from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the 19th with the bands playing from 6 to 10 p.m. The evening balloon launch is scheduled around 8:30 p.m. The festival will run from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the 20th.
All balloon launches will take place at 3201 N. Wolf Creek Drive, about one mile north of the four-way stop in Eden. No dogs are allowed at any of the events.

Bear River Refuge events
Friends of the Bear River Refuge are hosting two events at the national refuge west of Brigham City.
On Monday, the Third Annual Refuge Photographic Tour will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Bring water, outerwear, cameras, binoculars and spotting scopes. The cost is $1 per person with a $5 per family limit.
On Saturday, butterfly experts Todd Stout and Steve Sommerfeld will lead a program on butterflies in Utah from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The program is designed for ages 12 and older. The cost is $1 per person with a $5 maximum per family.

Maybird Gulch hike
REI and Sandy Parks and Recreation are holding a hike to Maybird Gulch on Wednesday at 6 p.m. A view of Pfieferhorn is the reward for this three-mile hike with an elevation gain of 1,000 feet. The hike is considered intermediate and will take about 2 1/2 hours. The cost is $4 per participant and registration is required by calling 801-568-2900.
Youth hunts
Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) officials are playing host to 10 special youth upland game hunts this fall. The only requirement for the five chukar partridge and pheasant hunts is completion of the hunter education program and a short essay on either "I want to continue the Utah upland game hunting tradition because . . ." or "I would like to start my own upland game hunting tradition because . . ."
The chukar hunts will be Sept. 9 on five state wildlife management areas (Henefer-Echo WMA in Morgan and Summit counties, the Carr Fork WMA in Tooele County, the Book Cliffs-Willow Creek WMA in Duchesne County, the Gordon Creek WMA in Carbon County and the Pahvant WMA in Millard County).
The youth pheasant hunts will be Nov. 11 on five state wildlife management areas (Willard Bay WMA south of Willard Bay Reservoir; at the Carr Fork WMA, about two miles northeast of Tooele; at the Mallard Springs WMA, about 1 1/2 miles southeast of Myton; at the Huntington WMA, about two miles north of Huntington; and at the Pahvant WMA, about five miles northwest of Fillmore).
Applications and essays must be completed on the DWR's Web site, http://www.wildlife.utah.gov/uplandgame, before Aug. 25 for the chukar hunt. Applications for the pheasant hunts are due by Sept. 8.
These youth hunts are sponsored by the DWR, the Golden Spike and Great Salt Lake chapters of Pheasants Forever, the Utah Chukar and Wildlife Foundation, the Salt Lake County Fish and Game Association and the Wasatch Mountain Chapter of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association.
Timpanogos programs
Timpanogos Cave National Monument will play host to the following programs at the visitors center in American Fork Canyon. Each one-hour program starts at 7:30 p.m. The programs are free but a $3 entrance fee is required to enter the canyon. Call 801-756-5238 for more information.
Ranger Ken Kyburz will present "Legends of the Giants," a look at Mount Timpanogos through slides, legends and local folklore Friday.
"Storytelling - Native American Style" will be presented Saturday by Ranger Marc Ellison.
Ranger BJ Cluff will show slides and photographs of the caves that make up the monument in "Model Ts and No Trails" on Monday.
