Description: In South Willow Canyon, you will see a sign for the Medina Flat Trail. Drive up the hill and park at the trailhead. This trail is part of the Stansbury Front Trail, which runs through the Stansbury Range and is about 25 miles long. The Medina Flat Trail runs north from the parking lot and follows the eastern contours of the Stansbury Mountains. After you pass the first dry creek, you will see a trail junction for the Mining Fork Trail. Continue north. Most of the trail is exposed, with little shade, but wildflowers and terrific views make this hike a delight. About 1 1/2 miles on the trail, unexpected aspens shade a ravine, giving cool, refreshing relief from the sun. Just before the canyon overlook, you will pass through a gate. From the overlook, you see the trail dropping into North Willow Canyon. For a panoramic view, blaze a trail up the hill from where you are standing. From here you see all of the Tooele Valley, along with Antelope Island, Stansbury Island, the Oquirrh Mountains, Mount Ogden and Mount Nebo.
Directions: On Main Street in Grantsville, turn south on 400 West. Drive six miles to the South Willow Canyon Road exit. It's about five miles on the canyon road to the trailhead.
