Memorial Day weekend campground openings

Many Forest Service camp sites are first-come, first-served.

Vernal Ranger District (435-789-1181): East Park and Oak Park are open. Most areas on this district are not accessible due to snow and mud.

Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area (435-784-3445): All campgrounds should be open, except Spirit Lake, which will be closed due to snow.

Duchesne/Roosevelt Ranger Districts (435-738-2482): All campgrounds will be open with water, except Pole Creek, Avintaquin and Upper Stillwater, which will be closed due to snow.

Pine Valley Ranger District (435-865-3700): Pine Valley campgrounds should be open by Memorial Day; these include Equestrian, Blue Springs, South Juniper and North Juniper campgrounds and the picnic areas. Honey Comb Rocks and Oak Grove do not have water.

Cedar City Ranger District (435-865-3700): The Navajo Basins campgrounds will not be open for Memorial Day weekend; they are Spruces, Navajo and Te-Ah. Cedar Canyon, Duck Creek, Panguitch Lake North and Panguitch Lake South campgrounds should be open, as should White Bridge and Yankee.

Powell Ranger District (435-865-3700): Red Canyon and Kings Creek campgrounds open with water.

Escalante Ranger District (435-865-3700): Posey Lake and Blue Springs campgrounds open with water. Officials will try to get Barker campground open.

Beaver Ranger District (435-438-2436): City Creek, Little Cottonwood, Little Reservoir campgrounds are open with water. Manderfield Reservoir is open for dispersed camping.

Fillmore Ranger District (435-743-5721): All campgrounds will be open with water, except Upper Chalk Creek, which will remain closed.

Loa Ranger District (435-836-2811): All campgrounds will be open with water. Portions of the Mackinaw and Bowery campgrounds will be closed due to construction.

Richfield Ranger District (435-896-9233): Gooseberry campground will be closed due to construction until June 9. All higher elevation campgrounds, roads and trails on the Fishlake National Forest are closed.

Manti-LaSal National Forest (435-637-2817): Joes Valley campground is open with water.

Heber Ranger District (435-654-0470): Most campgrounds will be open with water except Mill Hollow and Wolf Creek.

Pleasant Grove Ranger District (801-342-5240): All picnic areas and campgrounds in American Fork Canyon should be open with water. The Alpine Loop drive is closed.

Spanish Fork Ranger District (801-342-5260): Maple Lake and Maple Bench campgrounds in Payson Canyon are open with water. All other campgrounds in the Payson Lakes area are scheduled to open Friday. The Nebo Loop drive is closed. Diamond Fork, Whiting, Cherry, Balsam and Tinney campgrounds are open.

Logan Ranger District (435-755-3620): All lower elevation campgrounds will be open with water. Wood Camp, Friendship and Spring campgrounds will be open with fees, but no water. Tony Grove and Sunrise campgrounds will be closed due to snow. Pioneer Campground will be closed because of flooding. There is a possibility that Red Banks campground will open.

Ogden Ranger District (801-625-5306): Most campgrounds will be open with water. Monte Cristo and Willard Basin campgrounds will be closed.

Salt Lake Ranger District (801-466-6411): Tanners Flat campground in Little Cottonwood Canyon will be open with water. All picnic areas in Big Cottonwood Canyon are open; reservation sites in Spruces campground will be open for Memorial Day. Albion Basin in Little Cottonwood Canyon and Redman campground in Big Cottonwood Canyon will be closed. All picnic areas below the winter gate in Mill Creek Canyon will be open. Sunset and Bountiful Peak Campgrounds in Davis County will be closed. All campgrounds in South Willow Canyon will be open with fees, except Loop.

Evanston Ranger District (307-789-3194): Stillwater, East Fork and Bear River campgrounds will be open with fees, but no water. All other campgrounds, roads and trails will be closed.

Mountain View Ranger District (307-782-6555): All campgrounds open.

Kamas Ranger District (435-783-4338): Yellow Pine, Lower Provo, Soapstone and Shady Dell campgrounds along the Mirror Lake Highway will be open for Memorial Day weekend; all other campgrounds will be closed. Smith & Morehouse and Ledegefork campgrounds in the Weber River drainage will be open with water. The Mirror Lake Highway is closed.
