This time, Kitty Ford and her fishing partner, John, were ready. In two consecutive summers they watched big lake trout chase smaller trout they had hooked to shore during trips to a favorite lake in the Wind River Mountains. They went back to Wyoming in August. Sure enough, a big laker hit a 14-inch fish they had hooked, but let go of it at shore. Grabbing a fly rod rigged for just such an occurrence, Kitty made four casts and hooked up with this 34-inch fish. An amazing trophy, particularly at the high elevation at which it was caught.
