Is there anything cuter than a piglet? Baby Animal Days at the American West Heritage Center in Wellsville, April 9-11, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., will offer that and much more. Wellsville is 10 minutes south of Logan on Highway 89-91.
The event is a major fundraiser for the nonprofit center, devoted to preserving and celebrating the region's farming heritage. Admission is $8, $7 for seniors, $5 for children 3 to 18, free for kids under 3.
New this year is a visit from Mark Walton, Disney animator and the voice of Rhino the Hamster in the recent movie "Bolt," who will sign posters and autographs, and give workshops on drawing and animating animals. Other activities include pony rides, a visit from the Easter Bunny, wagon rides, living-history demonstrations, animal demonstrations and shows, puppet shows and a treasure hunt. In addition to cute and cuddly baby farm animals, kids can see giant scorpions, millipedes and reptiles from around the world. The Li'l Buckaroo Rodeo will offer stick-pony barrel racing, mutton bustin' and a greased pole.
A variety of food vendors will be available at the event.

Volunteers needed
Antelope Island State Park is looking for volunteers to assist local scientists, researchers, professors and naturalists May 8-9 as part of the Annual BioBlitz, a 24-hour inventory of all living organisms in a given area. Participants will work one five-hour shift over a 24-hour period and assist area experts as they inventory insects, birds, bats, mammals and plants. Registration is required by April 30. Bikes for Kids
Bikes for Kids will give 1,000 new bicycles to pre-qualified, underprivileged third-graders at Intermountain Medical Center, 5121 S. Cottonwood St., Murray, May 30 at 9:30 a.m. Participating children, selected from the Boys and Girls Clubs and elementary schools in the Salt Lake area, will also receive helmets and bike locks. Several fundraising rides will occur on the giveaway day beginning at 8 a.m. at IMC. Cost of participating is $10 to $30, depending on the length of the ride, which ranges from 5K to 100K. Wasatch Relay full
Ragnar Events, organizers of the 2009 Ragnar Relay Wasatch Back race from Logan to Park City, announced that the event is sold out with 650 teams (7,800 runners) signed up to participate. The 187-mile relay, scheduled for June 19-20, began in 2004 with 22 teams and has grown every year since. Teams on the wait list at www.ragnarrelay.com will have an opportunity to register early for the 2010 race.
A new race has been added in Las Vegas, Oct. 9-10. Teams who register for the Las Vegas race and are on the wait list for the Wasatch Back can roll their registration and fees over to the Utah race if a spot opens.
