I just got off the telephone with a help desk. I have a snow-related problem with a recent equipment install. After more than 30 minutes dealing with a service representative (with very difficult-to-understand English) and then his supervisor — both of whom insisted that I had to pay for any service call — I asked to be connected to someone in the USA. Within 5 minutes of speaking to a rep in Oklahoma, I received a promise that the problem will be fixed at no charge. He commented that the original "help" desk people were in Costa Rica and probably have never seen snow.

I suspect that all the competitors of this company also have the bulk of their service reps overseas. More than 3 million such jobs moved overseas under George Bush. In many industries, I believe everyone did the same thing — so no one gained a competitive advantage.

This would be a perfect area for Donald Trump to apply pressure to bring back millions of jobs to the USA and one which would garner overwhelming support across party lines.
