Letter: Americans want big cars

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) City officials give a recent tour of streets in Salt Lake City, including an example of a "complete street" along Wilmington Ave. just West of Sugarhouse Park that addressed bike, pedestrian and transit aspects in the rebuild.

It is nice to see that someone elected by voters is listening to the makers of the cars and trucks the public chooses to buy. The flying cars are not here. The electric ones will not be here tomorrow. The governor of California got his waiver and enjoyed his day in the sun. Enough! I want a new Dodge Charger! Or a big Chrysler. I want the U.S. car companies to make money!

I drive a Lincoln Town Car and I put 6,000 miles on it last year. $3-a-gallon gas is just fine! American engineering will solve any car problems. There is a reason the new cars have 500 and 700 horsepower: The American driver likes SUVs, trucks and big cars. This is a big, new country. The EPA is unelected and needs to be disciplined.
