Letter: The Bundys are vindicated; federal officials are the true criminals

Cliven Bundy is all smiles as he welcomes everyone for a press conference in front of Metro Police Headquarters on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018. Bundy, the Nevada rancher and states’ rights figure who was freed after federal charges were dismissed in a 2014 armed standoff with government agents says the county sheriff and the governor are the only authorities he recognizes. I am writing this letter to express my happiness in the recent dismissal of charges against Cliven Bundy, Ammon Bundy, Ryan Bundy and Ryan Payne. I find it very disturbing that the federal government repeatedly violated rights of the defendants in this case over and over.

The fact that the government went to the Bundy ranch on a rampage was completely uncalled for despite the grazing issue. The way the government handled this case was nothing more than criminal behavior at the hands of public servants who are paid by the taxpayers.

We as a society empower them and when they abuse their power, they should be held to a higher standard. What’s next? Do we send in SWAT teams to people’s homes for dog-at-large tickets?

We as Americans must continue to exercise our rights and civil liberties, because if we do not, we will continue to have our rights violated by our government. So it is up to all of us to educate ourselves on our rights and fight for our rights by any means necessary.

Had it not been for the actions of all the nonviolent, peaceful gun owners at Bundy ranch then it is very possible that the situation could have ended up like Ruby Ridge.

So I hope that the taxpayers are upset by the waste of taxpayer money. In this case, more money was spent on the first trial than what Cliven Bundy was to have allegedly owed in grazing fees. Any more trials of any other accused in this case would be nothing more then a waste of taxpayer money. There will never be any more convictions.

The government prosecutor and other federal officials will be lucky if they do not end up in prison because in this case, they are the true criminals.
