I debated about writing this letter because it will make me unpopular with the wonderful businesses in Springdale. But I just want to say, don’t come to Springdale until the season starts next April.
They have totally ripped up the road all the way to the Zion National Park entrance. It takes about a half hour to get in or out of town because they have flaggers for a mile at a time. And if you just want to go to the other side of town, it takes about an hour because you have to wait each way.
You can’t walk because they won’t let you through the cones, and walking and biking here can be dangerous while this work is going on. That’s why they’re doing this; there will be wider walking/biking paths on both sides of the road when they are done.
I’m sure there will be a great result in the end (they’re planning to be done by April). It’s very frustrating to me as a resident now. And if I were a tourist, I think it would ruin my trip.
But, if you’re a patient person who doesn’t sweat the small stuff, you’ll probably be okay.
