Letter: I am grateful to live where people take care of each other

On Nov. 22, there was a major gas leak in the Sandy area. This was a potentially dangerous situation. I’d like to thank the Sandy City Fire Department, Sandy City Police Department and the employees of Dominion Energy for professionally and courteously doing their jobs.

Many residents were asked to evacuate their homes with no place to go while Dominion Energy worked all night to solve the issue. Most residents were not allowed to re-enter their homes until Thanksgiving Day morning.

I would also like to thank the LDS Church for opening up its building to allow residents to come inside from out of the cold and providing a place to stay if needed.

Thanks to the cooperation of all, there was no property damage or injuries. I am grateful for living in an area where people take care of each other.
