Letter: Hatch fails on all counts; time for him to go

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Utah Senator Orrin Hatch answers questions about the phone call he had just taken from President Donald Trump telling him he would approve a recommendation to trim the boundaries of the Bears Ears National Monument on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017.

Wake up, Utah. Old Orrin Hatch is blind, deaf, dumb and an addict.

He is blind to the unsustainable past of coal and oil; to carbon gases in Salt Lake City; and to what the majority of Utahns want.

He is deaf and doesn’t listen to millennials; our native elders; those needing health care; those suffering from opioid addiction; and the majority who want our monuments left alone.

He is dumb, lying about Bears Ears; voting to obstruct the DEA from dealing with opioids; calling those needing health care on “government dole”; making denigrating comments about Native Americans; and saying “no outsiders tell us what to do” when he jumps to the tune of his 89.4 percent donations received outside of Utah.

He is addicted to Washington D.C., with delusions of grandeur. He lost his Mormon morality getting into bed with Trump. He thinks he can designate an heir, Mitt Romney, who spoke against Trump, then asked how high to jump when the secretary of state post was dangled. He wants what he wants, not what we the people want. He has lost sight of his responsibilities to us in his arrogance.

We deserve better. Put old Orrin to pasture.
