Letter: Cutting off trade with China would not be smart

Steve Mnuchin and Donald Trump are threatening to cut off all trade with China. Since China controls 97 percent of the world’s rare minerals, have our national leaders rationally considered what would happen to USA manufacturing which is dependent on rare earth (including a host of defense material uses, cell phones, computers, flat-panel televisions and many other high tech items)?
