I have spent days reading letters from people who are for or against same-sex marriages and reading pages of comments on The Tribune's on-line forum from the people who can't seem to bring up anything more than distaste for the Latter-day Saint faith on one side, or quotations from religious books on the other.
I invite anyone to write a letter or post a comment at sltrib.com that expresses a valid reason why a government-issued marriage license or civil contract should or should not be granted to any couple, regardless of who that person chooses to share their life with. And do it without using religion to defend your point of view or without insulting someone else's faith.
Because it's apparent that the minute I attack your faith, you're done listening to me. And the minute you tell me I can't have the same equal rights as another because your faith says so, I'm done listening to you.
