Hanged with waste

EnergySolutions' plan to import low-level radioactive waste from Italy reminds me of Nikita Khrushchev's statement: "Give a capitalist enough money and he will sell you the rope that you will hang him with." EnergySolutions is selling the rope, the residents of Utah are being hung, and Sens. Orrin Hatch and Bob Bennett, along with Reps. Chris Cannon and Rob Bishop, are content to sit on their hands and watch. Rep. Jim Matheson appears to be the only one who is wide awake, alert and working hard to protect us from this madness.

It doesn't matter if the waste is high-level radioactive, low-level radioactive or candy wrappers, it was produced and consumed halfway around the world and shouldn't be disposed of in the Utah desert. Those elected to represent us might see that, if they could just pull their hands out of EnergySolutions' pocket for two minutes.

This is a national issue: Waste from other countries does not belong in any part of the United States!

EnergySolutions recently dismissed opposition to its plan as a "not in my backyard" attitude." I was born and raised in Utah. This is my back yard. Obviously, EnergySolutions doesn't see it as theirs.
