In regard to John Ferguson's letter (Vaccinations and mercury, Forum, Feb. 8), the MMR measles vaccine has not been found to cause autism. There are no studies that suggest that it does. In fact, the only studies on the issue show that the MMR vaccine does not cause autism.
He also mentioned that on Parade.com Web site several parents indicate that their child's symptoms appeared shortly after receiving the MMR vaccine. He failed to mention that the age range when children are diagnosed with autism is the same when the MMR vaccine is given.
It is time for people to move on and try to find the real cause of autism and stop beating a dead horse by wasting valuable research funding and time.
