Utah mentality

A group of U.S. House members has sent a letter to the Interior secretary urging the federal government to block off-highway vehicle use in some of Utah's remote lands. Being an avid outdoor person, I feel the use of OHVs on any federally owned land should be banned.

The OHV community has no regard for anything or anybody but themselves, and when they get off-road they drive as if they were in a race, going as fast as they can and all else be damned. The creatures whose home they are invading are no doubt terrified.

Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah, was quoted in the Oct. 31 Tribune as saying, "I would appreciate my colleagues . . . not trying to protect Utah from Utahns."

Utah needs to be protected from Utahns as the populace of this fine state appears to have no regard for the natural beauty that God created. With their Manifest Destiny attitude toward all things environmentally friendly, the whole state will be covered with OHV trails and housing developments unless stopped by somebody outside of the Utah mentality.
