As the grandparent of an Extended Learning Program student at Whittier Elementary, I am appalled that the school could lose its music program due to lack of funding.
These children are the future of this country and they deserve the best education we can provide for them. The group of legislators that we have seems to be worthless when it comes to the schools. They have no problem funding a parking garage for themselves, but come up short when it comes to education.
Many of the kids cannot afford private lessons so it's great that they are able to have music class at school. Recognizing the importance of the music program, the school had a yard sale to help, but they still have a long way to go to keep the program.
