Voucher supporters claim that vouchers are aimed at helping "the poor" afford private schooling. How noble.

Realistically, what percentage of private school students are poor? The proposed voucher bill would allow $300-$3,000 for private school funding. I doubt that $3,000 would be the determining factor for a low-income family to choose a private school over public education.

If voucher supporters are so concerned about equality in education, then let's require private schools to play by the same accountability rules as public schools. Once we're all on the same playing field, then we can consider vouchers.
