Predictable clamoring

In the aftermath of the Feb. 11 shootings at Trolley Square, gun control groups have predictably begun clamoring for more gun control laws. They'll deny it, but their ultimate goal is to abolish all private gun ownership. They use such tragic events to further their anti-gun agenda. That is reprehensible.

Gun control is really "victim disarmament" and does nothing to curb violent crime. Violent people arm themselves despite the gun bans and anti-gun laws.

A few years ago Time magazine ran a spread in which criminals were interviewed about the methods and circumstances of their crimes. A robber was asked, "Where do you prefer to ply your trade?" The robber said that he chose Washington, D.C., because he could enter any home or business with no fear of being shot by his victims. Washington enforces a total ban on handguns and mandates that rifles and shotguns must be disassembled. In fact, those states and municipalities with the strictest gun laws are the most dangerous places in the country.

But, none of this matters to the gun control crowd. They'll just keep clamoring for more gun laws.
