If the Tax Reform Task Force is really serious they should also check the editorial that ran in The Salt Lake Tribune, July 6, 2001, entitled “Kill the Cabin Tax.”

These cabins are taxed at 100 percent of the appraiser's value. They have no services available to them. A 50-year-old cabin, with 950 square feet, is taxed at $3,000. Only Sen. Ed Mayne, D-West Valley City, has tried to help. He introduced a bill in the 2002 Legislature to make the tax more fair and equitable.

It passed the House but was never brought up in the Senate.

I don't care about the discussions they have on the State Dessert, State Flower, State Song (who cares?). Let's discuss some real issues in January - something that would actually help the people in this overtaxed state.
