Responsible ATV riders

It seems all the articles I read are always against the ATV user (“ATV dispute steams Box Elder,” Tribune, Feb. 13). What about the large OHVs that cause most of the ruts?

You get a large truck on these roads and I guess they don't cause any damage. How big a rut do you honestly think ATVs make? I have seen ruts you can stand in, and I do not like them, but they are not being put there by ATVs.

What about the responsible ATV riders? When we go riding we respect the right to ride. We clean up any trash that may be left by others. We wear our helmets. We tread lightly so as not to cause damage to the land. We stay on the trails and follow the signs if they are posted. Maybe one answer is a voluntary trail patrol in the problem areas.

I have two total knee replacements and the only way I can enjoy the beauty around these areas is to ride my ATV. I cannot hike the mountains. I just get tired of always being blamed and condemned for things that most of us don't do. Why not try a positive article for once?
