A heartfelt apology

This is for those Brazilians (or anyone else) offended about my husband's comment in the Tribune's Dec. 29 article about my son Tyler, who left recently for his mission.

Kyle, in talking to the reporter, said that there are jungle or forest areas around. He did not mean that Tyler would be living in a jungle. We know Sao Paulo is certainly not in the jungle, and neither is Goiania. We have been told it is wonderful and that he will love his mission in Brazil and the people who live there. We are very excited that Tyler has the opportunity to have this experience.

We are very sorry that anyone was hurt or bothered by this article. Going to the Fiesta Bowl and having Tyler with us was wonderful. We will be forever grateful for those memories. I guess you could also be aware that when articles are written, even though the reporter does the best he can to get quotes correct, things don't always look in print how you said or meant it.

Kyle is busy with recruiting, so I did the writing. The apology is heartfelt from both of us.
