My son-in law, a mason, finally found a construction job on a major condo complex in downtown Salt Lake City. At last his family could catch up on bills, fix their car and get Internet for their 8-year-old to use for homework. My husband and I saw light at the end of the tunnel -- our retirement incomes could support just us.

Then the "bomb" dropped. Because of his income, as of March they will lose their state heath care for the working poor, their 4-year-old will lose Medicaid, and my son-in-law makes $2,000 too much for his 8-year-old to stay in the state's Children's Health Insurance Program.

We are devastated and frightened. I have called every agency I can find and found no insurance. Because of a pre-existing, uninsurable heart condition, my daughter can get insurance through the state for $495 per month, but nothing for the rest of the family. There is no affordable health care for lower middle-class workers. What can we do? Each night I pray for a solution, and I pray they stay well.

Those who were elected to serve, please advocate for all Americans. We count on you.
